The second film to be released in the new “Disney Fairies” movie series, TINKER BELL AND THE LOST TREASURE finds all of the fairies of Pixie Hollow preparing for the great Autumn Revelry festival while they work their magic to help usher in the fall. When Queen Clarion (Angelica Huston) puts Tinker Bell (Mae Whitman) in charge of building the special scepter that will gather the moonlight from a rare Blue Moon in order to replenish the magic Pixie Dust Tree, everyone’s favorite fairy eagerly begins designing what will sure to be the best scepter yet as she works diligently alongside her pal Terence (Jesse McCartney). After a devastating accident though that puts all of Pixie Hollow in jeopardy, Tink decides that she must secretly set out on her own and venture far across the ocean and past Neverland in hopes of fixing everything and allowing the Revelry to still take place. Encountering much danger along the way, Tink’s journey proves to be her most exciting adventure to date.

Central to the success of TINKER BELL AND THE LOST TREASURE are the wonderful characters that will be sure to appeal to the whole family. Tinker Bell is given dimensionality and is fully realized on screen as an intelligent but headstrong fairy complete with a temper. This helps to further expand the character beyond that which was seen in the first installment of the series and creates for some humorous and engaging byplay between Tink and the other characters. This also serves to introduce conflict between Tink and her best pal Terence, and in doing so, helps Tink reassess the importance of friendship and thus establishes an underlying message throughout the film. Director Klay Hall (“King of the Hill”) never becomes heavy handed in delivering this message, but instead lets the characters’ own unique personalities help drive the story forward. Introducing a new character as well, the lovable and absolutely adorable little firefly Blaze, TINKER BELL AND THE LOST TREASURE keeps character its primary focus, and this helps to further draw an audience in and serves to heighten the adventure in addition to the action sequences.

Once again, the animators at Disney have created a beautiful picture, really highlighting the relationship that the fairy world plays with the naturalistic environment through the animation. The fairies wear clothing comprised of different leaves and the incredibly precise attention to detail reveals not only the veins in the leaves but also the various surface textures of the leaves themselves and looks absolutely stunning in HD. The animators’ brilliant use of color, specifically within the world of Pixie Hollow itself, creates an incredible aesthetic to the film and captures the beauty of nature as it makes its transition from summer to fall.

The fact is, TINKER BELL AND THE LOST TREASURE is great entertainment for the whole family. While it is a fairy film, it is not aimed specifically at girls alone, and all children will be drawn into the exciting adventure that Tink encounters when she goes on her journey outside of Pixie Hollow. With fun and multi-dimensional characters, exciting adventure and beautifully stunning animation, TINKER BELL AND THE LOST TREASURE is a must own family Blu-ray and one that will be sure to be watched again and again.

For the Blu-ray release, Disney has released a multi-disk package that includes both the Blu-ray as well as the DVD of the film to allow the film to be enjoyed on varying media players within a household.
